What does Virens Mean?
Pronounced with a short 'i', like 'vim' and 'vigour', 'Virens' has its origins in Latin.
Most commonly used to describe plants and nature, it's an adjective that means 'flourishing' and 'vigorous' - characteristics we want to help build in your small business.
Our History & Mission
Our founding team have over 40 years of experience in branding, marketing, product development, and technology. In that time, we have worked alongside businesses of all sizes and types, ranging from international banks and technology startups to what we find most rewarding - small, often local businesses.
Our diverse experience has made us what we are today; we want you to benefit from everything we've learned (and continue to learn!).
Not a day goes by where we don't see small businesses wrestling with similar problems - competing with the big guys, getting found on the internet, finding new customers, keeping up with technology, and getting messages out.
We started Virens in 2020, just before the pandemic struck, and nothing's changed about our mission. We want to use our experience to help small & local businesses flourish.
Our Founders
Emily doesn't just have a maths degree, she's a legit marketing guru. Having climbed the corporate ladder in her 20s, she's been crucial to the success and subsequent sale of several high-growth and well-known businesses, including Friends Reunited (arguably the first social network) and XE.com (one of the world's most visited websites).
Despite Emily's maths degree, Tom's the geeky one. He started his career in retail and quickly realised he enjoyed solving problems using technology. After moving from retail into tech, Tom spent the next 15 years taking ideas from concept to reality, predominantly as a marketing-loving technical Product Manager.
Our Location
Team HQ is in Yateley, Hampshire. Our position on the county's northern border makes us ideally located to support local businesses across Hampshire and nearby Surrey & Berkshire.
Outside of Yateley, the businesses we help most often are near us, e.g. Windsor, Bracknell, Wokingham, Ascot, Eversley, Sandhurst, Fleet, Camberley, Farnham, Reading, Crowthorne, and Farnborough.
It really doesn't matter if you aren't based on that list, though. The nature of our work means we can, and do, regularly help businesses from across the UK (and beyond)!
